VIOLET HADA NAPIER (nee SPLETT) Bravely at home on July 22, 2002, Violet Hada Napier, 75, went to be with God. Loving wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend, Violet is survived by her husband Robert Hugh Napier; and their three children, Janet Napier (Craig Strong) and their son Eric, Bruce Napier and his son Reid and stepson Matthew, and Patricia Napier (Bruce Kowaluk) and their children Connor and Julia. Vi was born in Beausejour, MB on March 2, 1927 to Edward and Alwine Splett. Vi had been an active member of the United Church since 1946, serving on many committees and teaching Sunday School and Explorers youth groups. Vi worked as hairdresser for sixty years. Family and friends were fortunate to celebrate her 75th birthday and 60th anniversary of her career with a party at Harbour View in March, 2002. She taught sewing classes for many years and could make any garment by making her own patterns. She was always ready to learn new things and just this spring took a quilting class to make her granddaughter a lovely quilt. She had innumerable interests; reading, gardening, photography, crafts, league bowling and ladies card groups to name a few. Vi was a Tai Chi instructor for many years and taught her last class days before being hospitalized. With all these activities, Vi always had time for her family and her many friends. If friends are like gold, then Vi was very wealthy. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She truly had a heart of gold. We will miss her beautiful smile and her kind and loving ways. Memorial service will be held at Gordon King Memorial United Church, 127 Cobourg Ave., on Monday, July 29 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
